Will – Drafting:
A Will is a legal document that is written to ensure that upon your death, your assets are given to the heirs or beneficiaries specified by you. If you do not have a valid Will upon your death, your estate will be distributed according to Texas statutory default inheritance rules.
Please, contact the Law Office of Jamiah Aaron Williams to obtained a skillfully drafted, up-to-date, self-proving Will.
Probate:
Probate is the legal process that transfers title of property from the estate of the person who has died, known as the "decedent", to his or her heirs or beneficiaries. Probate is usually required when the decedent owned real property or financial accounts.
For a Will to have any legal effect, it must be "proved-up" in a Probate or County Court to prove its validity.
If the decedent did not have a will ("died intestate") the estate will be administered according to the Texas intestate distribution scheme, which is based upon marital and family relationships.
Contact the Law Office of Jamiah Aaron Williams to discuss the Probate options available to you.
Guardianships:
Guardianship is the legal process by which a court determines that an adult is unable to make decisions about some or all areas of life and is therefore legally incapacitated. As a result of that determination, the Court will appoint a Guardian to make those decisions for that adult.
If a Guardianship needs to be obtained over your incapacitated loved-one don't hesitate to contact us.
Power of Attorney:
Obtaining a Statutory Durable Power of Attorney is a less restrictive alternative to obtaining a Guardianship. A power of attorney allows a "principal" to designate an "agent" to handle the principal's business affairs in the event the principal becomes incapacitated. The powers in any power of attorney are broad and sweeping. Therefore, it is of the utmost importance that the principal has the utmost trust, faith and confidence of the agents appointed in such a document.

Medical Power of Attorney:
A Medical Power of Attorney allows a principal to grant an agent the authority to make health care decisions for the principal in accordance with the principal's wishes, including the principal's religious and moral beliefs.
